General

What is nuDoors?

nuDoors is a modern solution for transforming kitchens without the mess and cost of a full renovation. We specialize in high-quality, American-made cabinet doors and components designed to replace your existing doors while keeping your cabinet boxes intact. Whether you’re a homeowner, contractor, or designer, nuDoors offers a faster, more affordable, and eco-concious way to update any space, with professional-grade durability and style.

What are nuDoors made of?

nuDoors are crafted from 3/4″ high-density fiberboard (HDF), a premium material that offers greater durability and consistency than traditional wood. HDF is more sustainable, moisture-resistant, and less prone to warping or cracking. It also eliminates issues like bridging, ensuring a smooth, long-lasting finish.

Does nuDoors provide in-home services?

While nuDoors does not directly offer in-home services, we’re proud to have an ever-growing network of Certified Installers across the U.S. These experienced contractors are trained in the nuDoors product line and installation process, ensuring a smooth and professional experience from start to finish.

To find an installer near you, you can reach out to us or visit our Find a Certified Installer page for more information.

Can I visit the nuDoors facility?

Yes! We welcome visitors to our office/showroom located in West Berlin, New Jersey. It’s a great opportunity to view our products in person and ask any questions you may have.

Please note: This location is not a manufacturing facility, it serves solely as our office/showroom. We kindly ask that you let us know in advance if you plan to visit so we can ensure a team member is available to assist you.

Address: 411 Bloomfield Drive, Unit 5 West Berlin, NJ 08091

What is the price per door?

nuDoors pricing is calculated based on square footage, so the cost of each door depends on its size.

Final pricing may vary based on selected finish, profile, and any add-ons (like hinge drilling, etc.)

Can I return and or cancel my order?

Because all nuDoors products are custom-made to your exact specifications, we do not accept returns or issue refunds. Custom orders cannot be restocked or reused.

Orders may only be canceled if production has not yet started. If you need to request a cancellation or check your order status, please contact us as soon as possible at [email protected] or call 1-888-792-0130.

If production is already underway, we may be able to stop further progress, but no refunds will be issued for work already completed.

We strongly recommend reviewing all measurements, selections, and order details carefully before submitting your order. If you have any questions during the process, our team is always here to help.

Measuring

How do I measure for nuDoors?

Measuring is simple, just take the height and width of your existing doors from their widest points.

For additional help, check out the video tutorials below for a step-by-step walkthrough.

What is an overlay?

An overlay (also known as a reveal) refers to the portion of the cabinet door that extends over the cabinet frame.

The most common overlay is 1/2″, meaning the door covers 1/2″ of the cabinet box on all sides.

Understanding your overlay is important when ordering hinges and ensuring proper door alignment.

How do I measure my overlay?

Measuring your cabinet overlay can be a bit tricky, so it’s important to follow the steps carefully and take accurate measurements.

To start, select a cabinet with a single door opening rather than a double door cabinet.

First, measure the overall width of the existing door. Next, measure the width of the cabinet box opening behind that door.

Subtract the cabinet opening width from the door width, then divide that number by two. This result is your cabinet overlay.

Example:
If the cabinet door measures 12″ wide and the cabinet opening measures 10″ wide, the difference is 2″. Divide by two, and the overlay is 1″.

That measurement will determine the correct hinge overlay needed for your nuDoors.

How do I measure my overlay with a double opening cabinet?

Measuring for double openings is simple with the right steps:

1.Measure the inside opening (width and height).

2.Add your overlay amount x2 to both dimensions. Example: If your inside width is 24″ and you want a 1/2″ overlay, add 1″, making the total 25″.

3.Divide the adjusted width by 2, then subtract 1/16″. This gives you the width of each door.

4.The height stays the same as the adjusted height (inside height + overlay x2). No need to divide it.

For best results, take careful measurements and double-check your math before ordering.

What are stiles and rails?

Stiles are the vertical components of a cabinet door, and rails are the horizontal components. Together, they form the frame around the center panel of the door, helping define the door’s overall style.

FAQ image

What happens to the stiles and rails on drawer fronts since they are shorter in height than doors?

By default, nuDoors adjusts the rails on unfinished drawer fronts to be half the size of the stiles. This design choice helps maintain balanced proportions on shorter drawer fronts and ensures a cohesive look alongside cabinet doors.

For example, a 2 1/4″ Shaker drawer front will have 2 1/4″ stiles and 1 1/8″ rails.

If you’d prefer the stiles and rails to remain the same size all the way around, simply input the drawer as a cabinet door when ordering.

Note: Slim Shaker styles do not get split, they receive the full stile and rail size on all four sides, regardless of being a drawer or door.

Pre-Finished Drawers: Stiles and rails on drawer fronts do not get split by default. If the size of the drawer is below the full stile and rail size minimums, the top and bottom stiles will be reduced to maintain a 1″ face. (This is the only time they will not be the same stile and rail size all the way around the drawer face).

How do I convert fractions to decimals?

To convert a fraction to a decimal, simply divide the numerator (top number) by the denominator (bottom number), then add it to the whole number.

Examples:

26 7/8 → 7 ÷ 8 = 0.875 → Final result: 26.875

18 3/4 → 3 ÷ 4 = 0.75 → Final result: 18.75

Accurate conversions are important when entering dimensions into the ordering system.

No, nuDoors does not supply the glass. However, the doors are manufactured as frames and are delivered ready for glass installation. Glass can be sourced locally or through a provider of your choice.

What is hinge boring?

Hinge boring refers to drilling holes for the hinges. The specifications for nuDoors hinge drilling is attached below. This applies to the height side of the door and is designed for dowel-insert hinges only.

FAQ image

How do I know what hinges I need?

Hinge selection depends on the overlay of your cabinet doors. For example, if you have a 3/4″ overlay, you will need 3/4″ overlay hinges. The hinge should always match the overlay measurement.

If I have exposed hinges on my cabinets now, can I do concealed hinges with my nuDoors?

Absolutely, and this does not affect anything with the ordering. You will measure and order as usual, selecting hinges to match your overlay (e.g., for a 1/2″ overlay, choose 1/2″ overlay hinges). Ensure the holes in the face frame from the previous exposed hinges are properly filled, as concealed hinges attach inside the cabinet.

Installation

How do I install my nuDoors?

Installing cabinet doors requires proper alignment and hinge placement to ensure smooth operation and an even reveal.

Start by removing the existing cabinet doors and hardware from the cabinet box. Install the hinges onto the nuDoors first, making sure they are properly seated and secured.

Next, pilot holes must be drilled into the cabinet box for the new hinges. For best results, we recommend using the nuDoors Face Frame Jig, which allows you to accurately and consistently drill pilot holes in the correct location on the cabinet frame.

Once the pilot holes are drilled, use the Kreg Door Mounting Jig and Face Clamp to assist with installation. This tool allows you to clamp directly to the cabinet box, hold the door in the correct position, and support the weight of the door while fastening the hinges to the cabinet frame. Having a helper can also make this step easier, especially with larger doors.

After the door is secured, fine tune the alignment using the adjustment screws on the hinges to achieve consistent spacing and a level fit.

How do I install nuDoors drawer fronts?

Installing drawer fronts can vary depending on how the existing drawer box and face are constructed.

If the existing drawer face is attached to the cabinet box
Remove the old drawer face first. Use double-sided VHB drawer tape to temporarily position and align the new drawer face on the drawer box. Once aligned, secure the drawer face with screws from the inside of the drawer box, then install the hardware.

If the drawer face is part of the drawer box (one-piece construction)
The existing drawer front will need to be removed using a multitool or another cutting method you prefer. After removal, install a 3/4″ wood panel to serve as the new drawer box front. Once this is in place, attach the new drawer face using the same process: apply VHB double-sided drawer tape for alignment, secure it with screws, and then install the hardware.

What is recommended to install nuDoors?

We recommend purchasing hinges and screws before installation as this will be required for attaching your nuDoors to your cabinet boxes.

We also recommend the following Kreg tools, which you can purchase through our site:

- Cabinet Door Mounting Jig

- Classic 3″ Face Clamp

- Drawer Front Mounting System

- Concealed Hinge Jig

These tools make the installation process smoother and more efficient.

How do I match my cabinet frames and boxes to my nuDoors?
